LIFE PHOTO ALBUM

In January 2000, Chris and I purchased Windward Cottages in Eastham, consisting 9 cottages, a barn and a 3 bedroom craftsman-style house on 2.7 acres. While the property had tremendous potential, it had not been cared for and had seen it’s better days. Appreciating the historic value, simple construction, and "crooked" character of the cottages, we challenged the popular suggestion to demolish the cottages and start anew. Instead, we shored up the structural elements, exposed much of the old wood, added new wood walls and floors and updated all the infrastructure. With an eye on keeping the old feel of the cottages, we incorporated old doors, windows, fixtures, and hardware wherever possible.
By the summer of 2001, we were operating all 9 renovated cottages and had converted one of the larger cottages (#9) to a Meeting House, where we served breakfast each morning. We operated as a niche’ Bed & Breakfast, drawing a wonderful clientele that appreciated the environment and experience of Cottage Grove.http://www.grovecape.com/
